2021 Escarpment Labs Scholarship & Mentorship Program
Since 2015, Escarpment Laboratories has helped hundreds of breweries achieve their fermentation targets. With knowledge and community at the forefront of our values, we knew that we wanted to commit to these values on a wider scale, allowing those new to the beer industry to have access to the education and resources they need to thrive. We also recognize that the industry does not yet represent the diversity we need to see in craft beer, and we must make space and create opportunities for the underrepresented to thrive.
It is here that we are introducing the 2021 Escarpment Labs Scholarship & Mentorship Program. This scholarship is intended for those who are looking to enter or transition into the craft beer industry by means of starting, upgrading, or extending their education, focusing on those who do not see themselves actively represented in the industry. This is a new initiative that contributes to our vision that all businesses benefit from having a diverse workforce.
Thanks to the funds raised from the sale of our Escarpment Labs Mugs in early 2021, the successful applicant will be awarded a $1300 scholarship, as well as a full term mentorship from our knowledgeable staff. The mentorship includes four 1 hour sessions over the course of the term with a specific department (i.e. lab, sales, marketing) based on the successful applicants interests and goals. The topics of these sessions will be determined after the introductory session with Escarpment Labs co-founders Angus Ross, Richard Preiss & Nate Ferguson.
We recognize that those who enter the craft beer industry do not follow a linear path, as even our own staff have a wide variety of educational backgrounds including Theatrical Set Design, History, Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Brand Management. The mentorship sessions will take place virtually, so those who are pursuing a degree, diploma or certificate program (such as Cicerone) anywhere in Canada are encouraged to apply.
Good luck to all of our applicants!
